![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I complain a lot, because it's lossless but not so efficient since they decided to go the cheaper route: Fraps' FRAPS-1 Codec is built upon an outdated specification of MPEG video codec in order to not pay royalties and that's the reason the videos are unnecessarily big and split every 4Gb (because the older specification was written for FAT32 when it was the dominant file system in most hard drives, and FAT32 only allows the maximum file size of 4Gb). My Dxtory's Raw Cap Converter has been crashing like crazy every time I try to open a rawcap over 2Gb since I upgraded to 2.0 and when I try to get support all I get is answers in broken Engrish or Japanese. Oh, and Bandicam offers support in English, which is great. Yes, it lacks some of the features of Dxtory like being able to choose any video codec available on your computer (you're only able to pick 6 from their list) or choosing how many threads your computer uses for recording, but I gotta say that it does bring a well rounded handful of options that work really well and it's easy for a beginner. I'm recording my current LP with Bandicam and I'm really happy with the results. It also, like Dxtory, let's you record your mic in a separated audio channel which makes easier for editing. Bandicam has one big advantage over Dxtory that is the capability of area recording - it sure helps a lot to record those games that don't have a DirectX/OpenGL overlay, like Biding of Isaac (instead of having to record the aero desktop) and I noticed it's less resource intensive.Īlso, the default settings of Bandicam are pretty tame and have less quality than Fraps, but you change your settings to MPEG-1 20000 kbps it suddenly becomes nearly nearly-lossless quality at a better file-size:quality ratio than most settings I've seen. ![]()
